Sodexo Universities is seeking an engaged and innovative Food Operations Manager 3 for The University of Alabama Birmingham , an urban college campus that cares about its students, faculty, and the community, located in Downtown Birmingham, Alabama! UAB is internationally renowned and the first Health Promoting University in the United States. UAB has an enrollment of over 20,000 students gaining education and personal development. Our campus dining program consists of multiple retail outlets, high end catering, and residential dining. UAB has a very ambitious client with incredible vision, engagement, innovation, and creativity.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of The Commons on the Green Student Dining hall where over 5,000 students are on meal plans. The Operations Manager will run day-to-day operations and collaborate with other dining services department managers, and manage up to 100+ team members. .
Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have:
High volume dining management background in a similar environment – University dining, healthcare, large corporate businesses, etc. Experience in Sodexo management and processes preferred ;
Proven client relationship and customer service skills, provenhistory of strong leadership and excellent communication skills;
Proven work history demonstrating strong employee engagement, leadership skills, and being out on the floor – a hands-on management style;
Are You the One? The successful candidate will:
Provide leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client;
Achieve company and client financial targets and goals;
Develop and maintain client and customer relationships; and Develop strategic plans;
Lead frontline teams, mentoring them in accurate cash handling, operations, open and closing processes;
Train and manage department HACCP Safety Programs, Sodexo programs and daily operation standards.
Manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and a passion for a high level of customer service;
Prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed; and/or
demonstrate working knowledge of Food Management Systems and proficient in computer skills and report management.

Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 3 years
Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
